Students with ESERA, MNRE, JA Management
The Authority hosted 6 enthusiastic high-school students from the Hhohho region who were observing the daily operations of the organization. The students were attached to the Authority by the Junior Achievements’ (JA) Job Shadowing Program. Through this program, the Authority intended to offer the young people a chance to investigate the world of work by spending time with adults in the community and experiencing the culture of the workplace. This experience was meant to give the students a meaningful introduction to the world of work and provide a context for understanding the connection between school and careers.
The Authority bid them farewell to the students after a productive period of 10 days. This was a bitter-sweet moment, as the learning experience was mutual to both parties. The students learned about the daily operations of an organization, and the Authority got motivation from the fresh young minds who contain enthusiastic energy.

At the farewell function, Mcedisi Manyatsi, a representative of the students said that they learned a lot about the environment of work. He said the job shadow experience showed them a realistic picture of what the day-to-day work life looked like.
“The Authority values the opportunity to invest and make a difference in the lives of future engineers” said ESERA CEO, Mr. Skhumbuzo Tsabedze. Junior Achievement’s Executive Director, Phetsile Masilela concurred and appreciated ESERA for their contribution in shaping the future of the youth through the job shadowing of 6 students and implored the Authority to continue supporting this initiative as it significantly impacted the lives of many families.
The farewell function was graced by the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy (MNRE). The MNRE is in partnership with JA. As the mother Ministry for ESERA, this partnership birthed a relationship between the Authority and JA. “We are happy for the students completing their job shadowing program today because we believe that their future has significantly been impacted,” said the Acting Principal Secretary, Mr. Sicelo Nxumalo.
